I am not related to headmistress: Avertano

Fisheries minister Avertano Furtado has clarified that in no way he is related to Vasco school headmistress Sharlet Furtado.

He plans to file a defamation case against social activist Aires Rodrigues.

Aires, today morning, had alleged that chief minister Manohar Parrikar is hushing up the Vasco rape case because minister Furtado is a close relative of headmistress Furtado, in whose school the seven-year old girl was raped.

He had also alleged that the rape accused is nephew of the headmistress, giving an impression that the accused is also minister Furtado’s relative.

“I am in no way related to the headmistress apart from sharing a common surname”, stated Furtado in a press not released late tonight.

He also stated that he would “approach the law of this country against the person defaming me and seek appropriate relief.”

Furtado also clarified that he strongly believes in dignity of women and crimes like rapes against women should be probed and taken to its logical conclusion.
