Terror suspect from UP under police scanner

Goa police are investigating a terror suspect, originally from Etah district of Uttar Pradesh, who was found provoking locals in the name of religion.

Afzal Khan (31) was arrested by the Verna police on August 24 after locals complained that he was provoking them in the name of religion.

The Verna police has found five different SIM cards from different states in his possession, which have been sent for a forensic test.

A senior police official said that various agencies including the Intelligence Bureau, the local special branch and others have recorded the statement of the accused, who has been booked for attempting to create communal disharmony in the state.

The Verna police today produced him before a first class judicial magistrate and got him remanded to police custody for seven days.

Police said that they will trace his movements in the state and even outside by taking help of their counterparts from other states.
