Bounce back of Rupee uncertain: Aisha

It is difficult to say if the Indian rupee will bounce back, as its fall is a result of global emerging market instability, Morgan Stanley's Managing Director (Investment Banking) Aisha de Sequeira said here today.

“It’'s difficult to say if the Indian Rupee is going to bounce back because it is not just India-specific issue but a global issue,” Sequeira told a gathering during the Annual General Body meeting of Goa Industries Association in Panaji.

"It's not as if the rupee alone is falling. It is also the case with the Brazilian Real. It is a sign of emerging markets being at the receiving end," she said, addressing the gathering in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

She said that the US dollar appreciates when global economies go through both good and unstable phases, because in both cases, investors immediately gravitate towards the USA, which is considered the world's most powerful economy.

Sequeira said that the Indian government’s uncertainty on crucial policy issues did not create a good impression among global investors. “

Absolute clarity on policy is definitely required to create the right environment for investment,” she said. is now on Telegram & also Youtube. Kindly subscribe for free & remain updated.
