Goa's former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco will be able to attend the forthcoming Assembly session even if he remains in the police custody, a senior police officer said.

Being an elected legislator, Mickky will enjoy privilege of attending the session, state police spokesperson Atmaram Deshpande said.

"He will be escorted by the police to the Assembly and back," he added.

Goa's monsoon Assembly session will begin from July 19.

The NCP legislator is in police custody in connection with the death of his close friend Nadia Torrado.

The sessions court on Tuesday had refused to grant bail to Pacheco whose seven days remand expires on Friday.

The crime branch has said that they will ask for extension of his remand as the 46-year-old legislator was not co-operating with them during interrogation.

Police have already informed the speaker of Legislative Assembly Pratapsing Rane about arrest of the legislator.

Mickky had to step down from the cabinet after his name was embroiled in a controversy related to the death of 28-year-old Torrado, who died after allegedly consuming poison on May 30.

The crime branch, probing the death, has accused Mickky and his close aide Lyndon Monteiro of being involved in her death and attempts to destroy the evidences thereafter.

The NCP legislator representing Benaulim constituency is booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and abetment of suicide. is now on Telegram & also Youtube. Kindly subscribe for free & remain updated.

Eliza, you are right. But that Government servant was appointed by the politicians and they have power to sack him or her. And to refill that position, they will get more money from the aspiring candidates. Whereas, the MLA or MP's are elected by the people. We have power to elect them but not to dismiss them. That is called DEMOCRACY.

Remember that prior to election, the candidate is a "Bhikari" and after getting elected, we become bhikaris and they become rich and richer. The cycle goes on. Goa is the worst state on the political map. Congress is even Corrupt under Empress Sonia (Not famous Sonia from Loutolim). We cried wolf-wolf during BJP rule in Goa and see today who are int he Congress? The same Wolves and the biggest wolf is heading the ministry. So, what difference does it make who rules Goa, you have to wake up and roll your chapati or else stay hungry. Not like the politicians and police who would be fed by robotic hands operated by remote controls.
