Atala on YouTube

Two clippings on YouTube, loaded two years ago, have stunned the state administration of Goa. It clearly establishes a nexus between the drug dealers and the anti-narcotic cell of the Goa police, in smuggling and selling drugs.

Shocked with the story aired by Prudent, in association with PTI, the state police bosses have decided to 'look into' the controversial tape.

The video clip flashed through YouTube implicates police inspector Ashish Shirodkar, earlier attached to ANC and now posted at Old Goa police station, in a major scam embarrassing the state police.

Atala (full name not revealed), an Israeli national under police scanner for drug dealing, is shown in the video confessing that he took ecstasy tablets and other drugs from the ANC officer. The drugs, as per the clip, were stolen from the ANC lockers, which were stored there after formal sealing by the court.

"Now I have one big officer.. He gets a lot of drugs from Mapusa court where the judge, where the people catch half kg cocaine. This officer tries to go inside, steal all the drugs from there and give me," Atala says in broken English.

Atala in the video, uploaded on 20 April 2008, has contended that if district police catches him with the drugs, then he will be jailed for lifetime but if ANC catches him he need not worry.

"This now if police catch me, I go my life, all my life prison.... Nobody else can touch me here. The ANC cannot touch me. Cause the ANC I pay a lot money too," the conversation mentions.

The controversial tape alleges that the police inspector met Atala for the first time and procured 10 ecstasy tablets, which he gave to him hesitantly.

"Thereafter, we became stronger and stronger friends," Atala says in the tape and flaunts his contacts in the police.

"We are looking into it and will take appropriate action," Director General of police Bhimsen Bassi told reporters this evening.

He said the police will initiate proper action in this regard after looking into the contents of the tape.

Both these clippings are available on YouTube.

The first one is named as Atala and his bong.

The second one is Cops from Goa are best friends with police-informer Atala

now enough is enough the police and the politicians are involved in this so as per the supreme court order if the politicians are involved then it has to be given to CBI so why the goa govt is not handing the case to the CBI

When the jobs are auctioned and sold to the highest bidder, what better can you expect? However, it is surprising that the drugs caught from the peddlers are not properly destroyed and find their way again to the peddlers! I think even God will not be able to save our Democracy as rightly stated by a Supreme Court Judge sometimes back!

Ashish Shirodkar, shame on you and your family, if you are guilty.

You are feeding your family on drug money. You are one of the responsibles ruining goa. I am sure you were not working alone and there are more officers and politicians involved in this along with you.

Case should be handed to CBI as even a kid from school can tell that Goan police are not saints.

Likewise look at SP Bosco. He comes into the media and never gives a straight answer. We have cops that are useless and shady. God help Goa

Congratulations Ashish Shirodkar! Well done! This is the best way to recover your money that you gave in lacs as a bribe to become a PSI! Next thing you sell off the Arms from the Old Goa Police Station Armoury. You are doing a wonderful job.

Better still you resign from the Police Department before you are stripped off the ranks or job and start drug peddling on the beaches. This way you will make more money than being a Police Officer and taking bribes. With that money you can always buy the concerned Minister and be safe from justice.....God forbid – Menino (Valpoi)
