Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s bungalow in Goa is mired in controversies after local panchayat decided to issue show cause notice to him over alleged irregularities.
Pradeep Naik, Sarpanch of Assagao village, 25 kms away from here, told PTI that the panchayat has decided to issue show-cause notice after locals alleged that the under-construction bungalow harbours illegalities.Naik said that the panchayat will ask details of permissions received by Hooda for bungalow construction as some locals alleged that the hill was cut illegally and also swimming pool was constructed while village is starving for water.
He stated that Hooda's is amongst 15 bunglows that are being constructed in Assagao village and all of them will face the notices.
The issue surfaced during January 24 gram sabha meeting wherein locals alleged that panchayat officials were bribed to give permissions for the bungalow.
The gram sabha demanded that the licences issued be revoked and thorough inquiry be conducted into the culprits, who allowed the irregularities.
"When entire village is reeling under severe water crisis how can the permission be granted for swimming pool? Is this just because owner is a chief minister of Haryana?," Clayton Fonseca, a local residence, who along with others raised the issue for gram sabha reacted.
Fonseca said that there are massive irregularities committed during construction of this structure, which were ignored by local panchayat. "We have asked the action against the construction," he said.
