RSS cadres revolt with mass resignations after dropping Velingkar
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 31 August 2016 23:49 IST

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh faced a frontal attack with mass resignations by all the committee members from taluka to state level, in retaliation of dropping Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar by the central leadership.
The stormy meeting, which went on for almost four hours since 6.45 pm at Hedgewar high school at Cujira near Panaji, also decided to wholeheartedly work for the new party the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch would float.
The decision was announced little before midnight.
The RSS –supported BBSM has decided to defeat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, political outfit of the Sangh Parivar, in protest of not withdrawing government grants to over 130 Church-run English medium primary schools.
The meeting was also attended by five-member team of Konkan region, which faced the music at the meeting tonight.
The furious Swayamsevaks also demanded immediate reinstatement of Velingkar as the Goa state chief, which he was relieved of last night.
RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat had decided to ‘drop’ Velingkar from the post, claiming that RSS leaders don’t participate in direct politics.
The real reason however was that the RSS had come out openly to defeat the BJP in the next Assembly election.
Official sources in the RSS told goanews.com that the mass resignations included office bearers of the state committee, district committee as well as committees of all the 12 talukas.
It included North district chief Raju Sukerkar as well as South district chief Ramdas Saraf.
The emergency meeting convened today evening was attended by around 300 cadres of the RSS from all over Goa.
This is the first time in the history the RSS is facing such a revolt in the country from its disciplined cadres, after crossing swords with its own political outfit – the BJP.
Literally each and every speaker criticised defence minister Manohar Parrikar at the meeting, calling him Bhasmasur.
The Konkan region leaders were also taken to task by the RSS cadres asking whether they have also become agents of power, ruled by the BJP.
The RSS leaders also said that the BJP cannot dictate terms to the RSS and the cadres would create more political alternatives if the existing alternatives surrender for power.
The meeting, among others, was also attended by Velingkar.
