CM orders IG Prisons to submit inquiry report into jail-assault on Ravindra

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has ordered an inquiry into the incident of a mining activist getting beaten up in a judicial lock up at Sada sub-jail.
The incident occurred on 23 March, when Ravindra Velip, one of the five arrested mining activists from Caurem-Pirla village in Quepem taluka, was blind folded and mercilessly beaten up while in the judicial lock up.
Parsekar said he has asked IG Prisons Elvis Gomes to immediately inquire and submit a report in this regard.
Ravindra has already complained to the IG Prisons, narrating the whole incident, which has shocked the whole state of Goa.
He has also suspected Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldesai and Fomento Mines, whose ore transportation the villagers were opposing to.
Ruling party MLA Phaldesai, who is Ravindra’s neighbour in Caurem, has already denied his hand in the incident.
BJP chief minister Parsekar however has said he has taken serious note of the incident.
Meanwhile, IG Prisons Gomes has already started inquiry into the incident since yesterday.
Even before the complaint could reach him, Gomes had rushed to Sada sub-jail to ascertain the facts.
