Sahitya Academy convenes emergency meet, denies Govt pressure
WEB INDIA, GORAKHPUR | 13 October 2015 17:40 IST

Denying that there was any pressure from the Central government to convene the meeting, Sahitya Academy has called an emergency meeting of its executive body on October 23 at New Delhi to discuss the issue of writers returning their awards.
"A regular meeting between the board and eminent writers of different languages as its members was scheduled for December. However, the ongoing crisis in the literary world has forced the Academy to call an urgent meeting. Future course of action will be decided on the basis of the decision taken in the meeting," Academy president Vishwanth Tiwari said here today.
