Karnataka goes filmy 'e'style for Mhadei diversion
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 14 September 2015 09:23 IST

Karnataka is trying all the methods possible to mount public pressure for diversion of Mhadei river. Yet another attempt to mobilise Kannada film stars was a big success in Huballi yesterday.
Many film stars not only attended the huge rally, demanding opening up of Kalsa-Banduri canals to divert Mhadei (Goa’s Mandovi) water to river Malprabha, but also publicly assured to continue this agitation in their own way.
Part of Karnataka media reported that the large crowd had gathered at Rani Chinnamma circle in Huballi, mainly to watch and listen to their favourite film stars.
Earlier, last week, the politicians had tried to break the bund on Kalsa canal at Kankumbi, which was ordered by the water dispute tribunal.
The attempt was foiled due to alertness of Goan activists, who informed Goan authorities and Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar managed to stall it by talking to his Karnataka counterpart.
In this background, the Mhadei water dispute tribunal will be hearing the case tomorrow.
