Crime branch raids Churchill's IT man, seizes docs worth crores

The crime branch has attached property papers and assets worth crores of rupees in the name of Churchill Alemao and his family members, in a raid conducted yesterday.
As the Goa police failed to find any documents at the residence or offices of Alemao, the crime branch conducted a raid on his income tax consultant Dayesh Naik in Vasco.
Sources in the crime branch revealed to goanews.com that they have attached property papers worth crores of rupees at Naik’s office.
The property papers are in the name of former PWD minister Churchill Alemao, his wife Fatima as well as his son Savio.
The crime branch has also attached papers of different companies formed in the name of family members of Alemao.
The police have also seized documents of the bank details of Alemao, showing assets in crores.
The crime branch would not assess these papers to ascertain whether these papers and assets are proportionate to the legal income of Alemaos.
The police had earlier failed to get any documents when they had raided residence and offices of Alemao, who is still serving the judicial custody for the last 43 days.
Alemao is charged of accepting huge amount of bribe from Louis Berger International Inc., a US-based consultancy firm, for executing a project of water supply and sewerage, funded by JICA.
