Goa DD to go satellite after 30 years

Goa’s Doordarshan Kendra will be uplinked to satellite while staff at both the DD and AIR Kendras would also be increased in number.

Goa DD centre is operating with terrestrial link, limited to Goa, for the last 29 years, since 1986.

To a question on whether the government was proposing to upgrade DDK of Panaji, Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley said full digitalisation of studios and upgradation of satellite uplink facility at various places including Panaji were part of the continuing schemes of the 12th Five Year Plan.

Goverment has approved the revival of 3,067 essential category posts in Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR), Rajya Sabha was informed today. 

"To address the issue of vacancies in DD, including DDK, Panaji, and AIR, the government has approved revival of 3,067 essential category posts," Jaitley said while replying to a supplementary during the Question Hour. 

 

He said the government has also given one-time special dispensation to Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of Group B and C posts. 

"Action has been initiated by Prasar Bharati to fill up the posts as per prescribed procedure and guidelines," he said adding that the selection process for 2,367 posts has been completed and police verification for these candidates has been initiated.

DD Goa Channel wish you happy new year may 2016 bring extension of transmission hours & upgradation to bring more konkani entertainment and Khabro in morning for at least half hour.

Its time to upgrade and appoint full time marketing plans for konkani Doordarshan Channel.

There is no approved plan in this regard at DDK, Panaji, Goa. However, the Directorate of Doordarshan forwarded an EFC ( under which DD, Panaji is also covered ) on 18-11-2014 vide letter No. D.O. No. G-20011/5/2014-B-I (Pt-V) for funds of Rs 6.25 crores for DD- Panaji to upgrade it as 24x7 hours satellite channels to the Prasar Bharti and the same was forwarded to Ministry of Information & Broadcasting by the Prasar Bharati Secretariat letter No. PB-15(11)-Fin/VoI-II/996 dated 9-12-2014.

This issues with the approval of DG: Doordarshan.

When i contact staff of Goa dd kendra if it will come on satellite. He laughed and ask me who told you we did not receive any letter from Director/Center.

I agree with Mathew & I'm sure once we start a satellite Konkani channel we Goans would again fight over script & dialect to be chosen. Seriously it is time for Goemcars to get up and rationalize themselves.

Goa is still undeveloped. Goa till date does not have its own Satellite Channel. Kerala and Tamil Nadu have highest numbers of Satellite Channels. When Goa will have its own Satellite Channel? Goa must have atleast 2 Satellite Channels (News and Entertainment).
