Parsekar to be new CM, Parrikar resigns, Francis to be deputy

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 08 November 2014 15:39 IST

After prolonged deliberations with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party legislatures, Laxmikant Parsekar was chosen to be the successor of Manohar Parrikar, as Goa’s new chief minister.

Central observer Rajiv Pratap Rudy made the announcement in this regard today afternoon, after Parsekar, former health minister, was formally elected the legislature party leader.

His name was proposed by outgoing chief minister Manohar Parrikar while Francis D’Souza, who had rebelled for not being chosen as the CM, seconded.

Prior to this, Parrikar resigned today afternoon, after the Parliamentary Board meeting decided to induct him in the union cabinet as the new defence minister.

Parsekar would be sworn in now at 4 pm.

D’Souza has agreed to work as the deputy of Parsekar, in the same position he was working in the Parrikar government. He was reportedly pacified by offering him home ministry.

It would be the same cabinet of eight BJP, two MGP and one independent.

The 12th post would be presently kept vacant.

The portfolios are expected to be allotted later in the week.

Before formally having a meeting of the legislature party, Rudy along with Yedurappa met all the legislatures personally to arrive at a decision.

DCM becomes CM in the absence of CM. So DCM should be CM. This is the System. Francis even went against the 10 Commandants by saying that he is a Hindu Christian, just to please RSS, but did not succeed in convincing RSS, that he is a true follower of BJP ideology. Francis should resign if he has some Self-Respect.
