Goa Govt extends Ram Sene ban

The BJP-led government in Goa has extended the ban on right-wing outfit Sri Ram Sene for another two months on the grounds of potential law and order problems.

Collectors of both the districts in Goa had prohibited the Sene chief Pramod Muthalik and his associates from entering the state by an order on August 19 for sixty days.

By a fresh order, under-secretary (Home) Neetal Amonkar extended the ban by another sixty days yesterday.

It stated that a report from the District Superintendent of Police said that if the ban was lifted, law and order problems may follow.

Sri Ram Sene, which became notorious after an attack on a pub in Mangalore a few years ago, had announced its plan to set up a branch in Goa in September.
