HJS codemns Centre's silence over ban on cow slaughter

Demanding a ban on cow slaughter in the country, a right-wing Hindu organisation today criticised Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh’s “silence” on the issue.
“The preservation and protection of cows is impossible without banning of cow slaughter. We are unable to understand why such straight forward stand is not being taken by the government and instead new slaughter houses are being permitted,” Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s (HJS) national spokesman Ramesh Shinde said in a statement here.
Singh, who recently launched the national ‘Gokul’ mission, had yesterday refrained to comment on the demand for anti-cow slaughter Bill while talking to reporters here.
He remained tight-lipped on the issue and only said the ministry has been working towards ‘preservation and protection’ of cows.
“I feel the cattle should be protected. The ministry talks about their protection and preservation. Whatever is possible through my ministry, we will do for the cause,” Singh had said.
The recent All India Hindu Convention organised by the HJS in Goa, had demanded that a Bill banning cow slaughter in the country should be enacted.
Shinde also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, before taking oath was talking about pink revolution and subsidy given to slaughter houses by the previous Congress-led government.
“Then why that subsidy was not stopped in the first budget by Modi government?” he asked.

They might have said many things before the elections. Now that they are ruling, they need to take a balanced view on all the issues.
It is not that easy to ban cow slaughter but all possible efforts should be made to preserve and protect cows.
