Goa Congress today complained to the party high command against two of its front organisations for allegedly working against an official candidate in the state for the April 12 Lok Sabha elections.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), in a communication to the party headquarters in Delhi, has pointed out that several leaders attached to National Students Union of India (NSUI) state unit and Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (GPYCC) were working against the official candidate in South Goa.
The party has fielded Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco in South Goa, upsetting stalwarts like Churchill Alemao and Francisco Sardinha.
State Congress unit chief John Fernandes told PTI that he has already spoken to Suraj Hegde, general secretary incharge of Youth Congress, about the anti-party activities by these organisations.
Alemao's daughter Valanka Alemao, who is heading the state Youth Congress, has been not campaigning in Goa.
"I was told that she is campaigning for Congress in Delhi. I want her to be here and address party meetings," Fernandes said, adding that there is possibility that Valanka may get involved in alleged anti-party activity from Delhi.
When contacted, Valanka was not available for comments.
Alemao, who was lobbying initially for Valanka and later himself to get the ticket from South Goa, had quit Congress and joined Trinamool Congress party.
The South Goa veteran is now contesting on TMC ticket from the South Goa constituency.
