Goa nominations begin, withdrawal till 29 March

Nominations for the Lok Sabha election started today, with the Election Commission of India issuing a notification for the poll in Goa.
The election process would be as follows:
Nominations : 19 to 26 March
Scrutiny : 27 March
Withdrawal : 28 and 29 March
Polling : 12 April
Counting : 16 May
Goa chief electoral officer Keshav Chandra, at a press conference, said the polling would be this time held for 11 hours, from 7 am to 6 pm.
The commission has set up 1622 polling stations for the benefits of 10.43 lakh voters.
To be precise, the total number of voters are 10,43,304 voters, with 5,20,237 male voters and 5,23,067 female voters.
The North Goa Constituency has 5,07,490 voters (2,55,029 female and 2,52,461 male).
The South Goa Constituency voters are 5,35,814 (5,23,067 female and 5,20,237 male).

Chandra said the police machinery is fully geared up to deal with the law and order situation and habitual offenders are being watched.
The offences during the elections like personation, intimidation and others coming under the purview of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Representation of Peoples act will be dealt with firmly, he added.
