Leading social activists to contest as AAP candidates

Two social activists from Goa would contest as Aam Aadmi Party candidates from both the seats of Goa.
Dr Dattaram Desai, who had successfully led the anti-Nylon 6,6 agitation, would contest from North Goa.
Adv Swati Kerkar, one of the leaders of another successful anti-SEZ agitation, would contest from South Goa.
Dr Desai has been associated with several social movements since ‘90s even after getting the pollutant Nylon 6,6 project scrapped.
He is also the president of the Goa RTI Forum.
He was also associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the past, but later quit the saffron brigade.
Adv Kerkar has also been associated with several social struggles since getting the SEZs scrapped during the last Congress regime.
Dr Oscar Rebello, yet another leader who got Goa’s controversial Regional Plan scrapped, is heading the AAP campaign in Goa.
Incidentally, both Dr Desai and Adv Kerkar hail from neighbouring villages of Verem and Keri from Ponda taluka.
