Goa gets only 2 weekly & bi-weekly new trains

Goa, a 365-day tourist destination for the whole world, got only two passenger trains in the interim railway budget presented today, that two one weekly and one bi-weekly train.

Railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge, in the interim budget presented on the eve of Lok Sabha election, announced quite a few new trains.

It includes 17 premium trains, one among which is Nizamuddin–Madgaon AC Express via Kota and Vasai Road.

This will be a bi-weekly service, he said.

Kharge also announced 38 new express trains, one of which is Mumbai–Karmali AC Express on Konkan railway route, once in a week.

 

“The existing congestion on many of our routes does not permit the railways to increase the number of trains. Besides, running of more passenger trains also affects the freight carrying capacity of railways,” he said in his speech.

He has announced 17 premium trains, 38 express trains, 10 passenger trains, four MEMU trains and three DEMU trains.

The annual plan for the railways is envisaged at Rs 64,305 crore with a budgetary support of Rs 30,223 crore.
