I won't react to 'People on the Streets' on PM issue: Parrikar
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 16 January 2014 13:01 IST

“People on the street should not tell me whether I should be a prime minister nominee, my party should tell me that.”
This is the way chief minister Manohar Parrikar reacted to the remark of Aam Aadmi Party leaders, calling them “people on the streets.”
While countering PM-candidate Narendra Modi’s statement at Goa rally that Parrikar should have been in Delhi as the chief minister, Goa AAP leader had remarked why then the BJP is not promoting Parrikar as the PM candidate, if he is that effective.
AAP had come out with this remark as a counter-argument to Modi’s praises for Parrikar, while criticizing Goa CM for doing nothing constructive but working for the illegal mine owners.
When Parrikar was asked to react to AAP ‘suggestion’, he quipped: “Why should I react to the people on the streets? I have my own party. Let the party tell me. Then I will react.”
He also said he would think over any such proposal (of becoming prime minister of India) only when his party tells him and not on such comments.
“They are deliberately creating such confusion, but I will not fall into the trap”, Parrikar clarified.
