BJP voices vary on Wagh attack, CM's clean chit to Kiran

CM Parrikar with BJP president Tendulkar visit Wagh at GMC

While cross sections of Goan society have in one voice condemned the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Vishnu Wagh, his own party leaders and cadres are reacting to it on varied voices.

Wagh, after he was attacked in Revora village of Tivim constituency on the night of Goa Liberation Day, had alleged that his party colleague and local MLA Kiran Kandolkar had conspired to attack him.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who visited Wagh in the GMC hospital yesterday, though condemned the attack, gave a clean chit to Kandolkar.

Kandolkar in the last year’s Assembly election had defeated NCP state chief Nilkanth Halarnkar, the former MLA, who had invited Wagh for the Kirtan Mahotsav the Devasthan committee had organised at Nanora.

“Those who attacked are opponents of Halarnkar, but not supporters of Kandolkar”, claimed the chief minister.

While the police are supposedly probing into the incident, Parrikar – the home minister – has already said that Kandolkar is not involved in the attack.

While registering an FIR against 70 unknown persons, Mapusa police have arrested one Audhut alias Kamu Halarnkar.

Besides Kamu, Wagh had identified eight others, including a local panch of Pirna village.

But Parrikar said they are not Kandolkar’s supporters, while claiming further that Wagh became a target of a rivalry between two groups, but did not elaborate.

He has however assured that no stone would be left unturned to nab the culprits and such kind of behaviour would not be tolerated in Goa.

Kandolkar himself has also denied his involvement in the attack, while calling it a conspiracy of his opponents.

“This is the reason Wagh was persuaded by the political opponents and his close relatives from the village to grace the function. The plan was to attack him and defame me”, claimed Kandolkar.

The Tivim MLA also joined the chorus and demanded thorough probe into the attack.

While BJP state chief Vinay Tendulkar also joined Parrikar in visiting Wagh at the GMC hospital and condemning the incident, his party workers from St Andre constituency gathered at the Azad Maidan, demanding action against the assailants.

Local party workers from Wagh’s constituency in fact threatened to block the National Highway and Zuari bridge if their own party MLA Kandolkar was not arrested in this case.

The BJP cadres and even the leaders are upset with Wagh as he keeps on criticising the government.

Wagh attending NCP state chief Nilkanth Halarnkar’s Kirtan Mahotsav added fuel to the fire, strengthening the rumour that Wagh may contest Lok Sabha election from North Goa on NCP ticket.

This perhaps angered the BJP workers and they chose to attack him, asking why he had to attend NCP leader’s function when is the BJP legislator.

I doubt Mr Parrikar cares too much. His zero-tolerance to crime and corruption is lying in a Soak-Pit.

For fear of being shunted from pillar to Post, his has got his Goa Police cronies busy sitting in his side "Pant Pockets"...playing Pocket billiards.

In his back pocket, he has got the miners feeding his lust for power.

Goa is expected to be a far poorer State by the time Parrikar leaves office & his legacy...and crimes are sure to sky-rocket.

Many of Parrikar`s own BJP colleagues/MLA`s are naked thugs & goondas and murderous . Many are after prime properties in Goa.

Zero Tolerance of criminal activities only applies to ordinary Goan Citizens...not his MLA`s. The BJP MLA`s have "Parrikar`s immunity"(similar or equal to Diplomatic Immunity).

Kiran Kandolar is known Goonda from the Tivim constituency.CM cannot deny this fact that his MLA from Tivim is Goonda elected mainly due to anti-congresss/NCP wave and due to distribution of ill-gotton wealth to the voters. Please don't assume me supporter of Wagh, Wagh is not fit to be public figure as he behave like a illiterate.

Surprising that these foxes could attack 'Wagh'. It is more surprising that his own party persons (as alleged by Wagh) attacked him.

The kingpin of this plan needs to be arrested at the earliest.

Goa, though known as a peaceful state is fast changing.

Intolerance for difference of opinion has no place in a democracy.

Let the truth come out and let people know who attacked Wagh.

If an MLA is not safe, what about the common people!
