Breast cancer survivors and others will walk along the picturesque Miramar beach near here on October 27 to create awareness about the disease.

Vasco Sports Club, one of the oldest clubs in Goa, along with 'Muskan', a support group for cancer survivors, will hold the 'Goa Pink Run', in which there will be a 10 kilometer marathon and five kilometres of fun walk.

"There will be 40-50 breast cancer survivors, who will walk on the day. There are some who are readying for a ten kilometre run," said Babita Agarwal, Trustee of Muskan.

Goa has the second highest number of breast cancer cases in the country after Delhi.

"The awareness is being created to make people know that cancer is not the end of life," Agarwal said.

"With proper treatment, cancer can be cured and one can live productive life for years," she said.

Renowned oncologist Dr Shekhar Salkar will flag off the event at Miramar.
