Shripad & Parrikar are like Krishna & Arjuna: Venkaiha

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 October 2013 22:32 IST

Veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Venkaiah Naidu today called North Goa MP Shripad Naik and chief minister Manohar Parrikar is a pair like Krishna and Arjuna.

Speaking at a felicitation on the occasion of Naik’s 60th birthday at a grand rally held at Campal in the city, Naidu said the pair would not only take Goa ahead but would also help in the progress of the country.

Though not called a political rally to kick off Naik’s election campaign, Naidu said leaders like Shripad Naik are needed to run the country in the background of uncertainty India is going through.

Parrikar, while recalling how he and Shripad Bhau worked together to build the BJP in the state, clarified that they have no major political differences.

“The BJP had only eight members when we started BJP work in Goa. Today we have 3.5 lakh members, thanks to the efforts also put in by Shripad Bhau”, said the chief minister.

While claiming that the BJP would win both the seats in forthcoming Lok Sabha poll, he also expressed confidence that Naik would get his rightful cabinet berth when the BJP forms the government.

Replying to the grand felicitation, Naik assured the large gathering to continue his work for the society and fulfill the aspirations of the people.

Also spoke on the occasion were Goa’s RSS chief Subhash Velingkar, veteran freedom fighter and writer Nagesh Karmali, industrialist Srinivas Dempo, Dr Rufino Monteiro, Speaker Rajendra Arlekar, deputy chief minister Francis D’Souza and co-operation minister Dipak Dhawalikar.

Former MLA Damu Naik compered.
