"Konkani Mog should be inclusive, not exclusive"

The Nationalist Congress Party has criticized the Goa Konkani Academy for opposing Kala Academy’s literary award for a book in Romi Konkani script, saying its love for Konkani should be inclusive and not exclusive.
The Goa Konkani Academy has officially opposed Kala Academy's decision to give separate awards in Romi and Devnagari Konkani scripts.
“It is surprising that an organisation that is meant to protect, encourage and develop Konkani language has raised the objection”, said NCP’s state vice president Trajano D’Mello.
He also appealed to GKA to show its love for the language by its actions rather than only for Devnagari script.
It is to be appreciated that the Kala Academy has been promoting and supporting books written in Romi Konkani. It is for this very reason that it cannot be understood the reasons of the discontent of Konkani Academy, he added.
D’Mello also claimed that only 25 per cent of Konkani speaking Goans write in Konkani, half of which write in Romi Konkani.
He also reminded the Konkani Academy stalwarts that the issue of Romi script was kept aside so that Konkani gets status of state official language.
“The opposition of Konkani Academy indicates that attempts are being made to throttle the growth of Konkani and get in Marathi through the back door”, alleged D’Mello.
He also charged that the GKA, which was always controlled by the Devnagari script writers, failed to attract the Goan youth in the Konkani schools.

Reject any circular issued Government of Goa. Sirlim have
done great job not to accept to change language in Marathi
this is not Maharashtra to use Marathi. Panchayats must
learn example of Sirlim panchayat. Only Konkani and
English nothing more. Use this circular for garbage
dustbin.

LOVE KONKANI AND NOT SCRIPTS. MANY SCRIPTS WILL PROMOTE KONKANI. ROMAN & DEVNAGRI MUST WALK HAND IN HAND.

A great point, that love of Konkani should be inclusive. It is Romi Konkani that has kept Konkani alive, produced very thought provoking, powerful and original literature through Roman script. There is very little 'new' literature with ground braking concepts and ideas that has come in Nagari Konkani, which is yet to cross confines of family and day to day life. In cliche' it is called roti, kapada and makan. In short, it talks about individuals and politics, but not about events and never never about issues other than language.
