FIR against Churchill & PWD Engr in tenders scam

Former PWD minister Churchill Alemao and an engineer will face a First Inofmration Report for corruption charges, not at the initiative of the BJP-led government but by court order.
A special court of North Goa has directed the police to file the FIR against Alemao and PWD executive engineer P T Parkar.
The charge is that Parker had awarded more than 258 tenders, each of Rs five lakh, without publishing advertisements in the dailies or without following any formalities.
Alemao has been indicted in it as Parkar stated that he acted on the directives from the minister.
Former state vice president of the National Students Union of India Sunil Kawthankar had filed a police complaint in February 2012, one month before Assembly election, in this regard.
As the police refused to file the FIR, Kawthankar had rushed to the court.
The North Goa police took a stand in the court that a similar case is being probed by the Anti Corruption Bureau of Goa police.
The ACB however told the court that they are probing into disproportionate assets accumulated by Parkar in this case.
The court has now directed the police to file the FIR against both – Alemao and Parkar –and proceed with the investigation.
