Mining hearing from 17 Sept, as scheduled

After little confusion over the hearing of the year-long pending Goa’s mining ban case, the Supreme Court has finally decided to go ahead with the hearing from 17 September, as scheduled earlier.
The possibility of the hearing getting postponed had arisen as Justice Ranjan Gogoi, one of the three-member bench, had not finished the hearing of the Constitution bench.
However, information reaching here from Delhi reveals that the hearing of the Constitution bench is complete.
The Supreme Court website has also listed the hearing on 17 September.
The bench, headed by Justice A K Patnaik and also includes Justice S S Nijjar, is expected to hear the case for three consecutive days, from 17 to 19 September.
In case the hearing is not over, the bench is expected to resume the continuous hearing once again from 24 September.
The green bench sits every Tuesday but has decided to dispose of Goa matter with continous hearings.
This would be the first proper hearing after the Supreme Court had banned all the mining operations, includng the transporation and export of mining dumps, on 5 October last year.
The ban had resulted into the mining belt getting a major setback while Goa’s revenue also getting affected severely because mining has been a major source of revenue since Goa’s liberation in 1961.
There have also been series of protests throughout Goa to resume mining, including a protest in the national capital.
A rally held recently was practially addressed by all the political leaders, including BJP chief minister Manohar Parrikar and opposition leader of the Congress Pratapsing Rane.
Folloiwing Shah Commission establishing major illegalities in the mining sector, the apex court had banned all the mining activities, pending hearing.

Mining Compensation should be given to those farmers who has lost their farms and not to those who has taken their farms. Mining Compensation should be given to those Tourist Sector who has lost their Tourism and not to those who has taken their Tourists. Tourism & Agriculture has taken a back-seat due to Mining.
