Mining rally attacks Greens, silent on illegal miners

The rally of mining dependents, which carried out scathing attack at the environmentalists, however did not utter a single word against those involved in illegal mining.

Raju Mangeshkar, a trade union leader, took the lead in criticising the environentalists and especially Dr Claude Alvares of Goa Foundation, who has filed a case in the Supreme Court.

“The government should conduct a thorough inquiry into the funding Alvares is getting. These are all foreign funds poured into Goa to ruin our economy”, alleged Mangeshkar.

These so called NGOs hold closed room meetings and protest against environmental damage caused to mining, without bothering to find out in what way it would affect the people, said Mangeshkar.

However, except chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who informed the rally about the criminal case being filed into illegal mining, no speaker made even a mention about illegal mining.

Opposition leader Pratapsing Rane in fact described the illegalities as “barik chiri miri” (कितेंय बारीक चिरी मिरी केली आसतली कोणेय).

In fact, referring to the mining dons of Karnataka, Rane said one person into illegal mining in Karnataka had made a golden thorn and had a fleet of helicopters, not knowing what to do with the money made through illegal mines.

 

“Does anybody into mining own a single helicopter in Goa,” he asked.

Speaker after speaker, including the chief minister, however emphasised that there cannot be environmental protection at the cost of human development.

It should be sustainable development by maintaining ecological balance, said almost all the speakers.

Former chief minister Rane even stated that all the farmers, whose fields were destroyed due to mining, have been compensated.

“Mining has benefited Goa more than the environmental damage it has caused”, said Rane, while objecting to the wild life sanctuaries notified by the cental authorities.

MINING LOOTING WILL START BUT WITH THE DIFFERENT DRIVER. PREVIOUS DRIVER LOST THE JOB DUE TO HE LOOTED THE MINING AND THIS PRESENT DRIVER HAD EXPOSED THAT DRIVER TO THE PEOPLE OF GOA. NOW HE WILL LOOT MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS DRIVER. AAP REQUIRE TO EXPOSE BOTH THESE DRIVERS.

The loss from Mining revenues is probably hurting Goa`s Politicians and illegal Miners than the low level "Mining Dependants".

While the "Mining Dependants" are crying quite understandably...the "Politicians" are shouting quite aimlessly.

While in Power or even out of it , none of the Politicians were concerned about illegalities. It was the least of their concern or even responsibility. It was probably another persons problem.In reality they thrived on the illegalities.

All Political Parties in Goa are funded by the Illegal Miners. Many crooked & corrupt MLA`s also depend on "private funding" from Illegal miners for their election campaigns.

For years ordinary Goans have complained about the rampant illegal Mining in Goa. and its environmental consequences. What did the Politicians do? .The plain and simple answer would have to be "Bugger-All".

What did the Mining dependants do? why did the not alert their Pay Masters & Politicians to the ever growing concern of other citizens of the State of Goa Mining.

The illegal mining in Goa was a growing and malignant cancer. It had to be brought under control at some point in time.

It seems this time has arrived.

It is time Goa`s mostly ill-educated Politicians understand the Constitutional Rights of other citizens (other than those involved Mining).

Anyway it was good to see "Crocodile Tears "being shed by various Politicians at this Mining Rally.

Soon after the Rally most Politicians probably sauntered off to Casinos and Dance Bars to indulge in their real passions.

What did Vishnu Surya Wagh do, before the intervention of the Supreme Court?.

I would say absolutely bugger-all.
