Parrikar assures Goa Centre in Kochi

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced here in Kerala that Goa Government would open a Goa Centre in Kochi.
He was speaking at a function organised at the 38th state annual conference of Balagokulam Sukrtindra held in Kochi yesterday.
Parrikar lauded the Konkani community settled in Kochi, where they had migrated from Goa centuries ago.
“The Konkani community here not only deserves appreciation for preserving their mother tongue Konkani but also developing it to new heights”, he said.
Parrikar was given a traditional welcome with “Poornakumbha” by Dr V Nityanantha Bhat, T M V Rajesh Shenoy, Payyanur Ramesh Pai, C G Rajagopal, Rajamani Vadhyar, T R Sadananda Bhat, N Govinda Kamath, Janardhan Athri and V Muraleedharan.
Goa chief minister also emphasised the need to have leaders with character to develop India further.
It is possible only through value-based education, which has been neglected all these years, he said.
Raju Narayanaswami, Secretary, Department of Sainik Welfare, Kerala, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that the prime duty of education is to mould a generation who can worship his work and respect the sons of soil.
Manohar Parrikar presented the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Samman to poet Ramesan Nair.
N Sreekumar, V Harikumar and M A Krishnan also spoke on the occasion.

It is to be appreciated of our CM that he is a pure Konkani person and on this issue, he won't budge.
He is respected in the Konkani speaking communities in different states on the west coast of India as well as an intelligent and highly qualified Chief Minister.
Proud of Parrikar as a Konkani protagonist CM of Goa. It is not that he is against Marathi.
All languages are good and deserve to be promoted but our mother tongue is Konkani.
Most of the Pais, Kamats, Bhats are originally Goans.
