Traffic on Pune-Konkan route was held up due to landslide and heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
The Pune-Mahad route in Konkan belt was closed for traffic and vehicles on other highways were moving slowly due to poor visibility.
Highway traffic police department superintendent Dilip Bhujbal said that a landslide was reported on Pune-Bhor-Varandha ghat due to heavy rainfall.
"Traffic was diverted to Tamini Ghat. On the Kolhapur-Goa route there are some low-line riverbeds on National Highway (NH) number 3. After the water level increased, we closed the route on NH3 as a precaution", he said.
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses on Konkan and Goa routes were running late by approximately an hour.
Swargate depot senior depot manager Vijay Divate said that buses coming from Goa and Konkan regions were running nearly an hour late because of water logging on highways.
"We have also diverted buses to Tamini ghat after landslide was reported in Varandha Ghat. However, none of the buses were cancelled,” he said.
Operator of Kadamba Travels that ply buses on Goa and Konkan route told DNA, “though none of the scheduled trips have been cancelled, buses are travelling slow particularly in ghat section and also in waterlogged areas.”
