CM to meet FM next week for package

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar will meet union finance minister P Chidambaram next week to follow up the issue of financial package for Goa in view of the mining crisis.

Prime Minster Dr Manmohan Singh has assured to follow up the demand of Goa government of financial package of Rs 3000 crore with the finance minister.

“I will try and meet Chidambaram when I go for a Planning Commission meeting scheduled on 21 June”, Parrikar told the media persons today.

The CM met the PM yesterday with an all-party delegation, making several demands to overcome the existing mining crisis.

“The PM’s body language sounded quite positive and he appeared to be well aware of the issues related to Goa that have arisen due to closure of mining”, said Parrikar.

He also informed that the prime minister had already instructed to convene a joint meeting of the concerned departments like environments and forests as well as mines etc of both the centre and the state to jointly put forward a strong case before the Supreme Court.

Parrikar expects relief to the barge and truck owners, whose loans and installments to the banks have stopped due to mining ban since last year.

In the memorandum, the CM had demanded moratorium of one and a half years on interest payments as well as relaxation on the NPAs created due to stalemate.

Regarding the financial package however, Parrikar felt the decision could be arrived at only after the meeting with the union finance minister.

When the issue of package was raised, he said the PM also talked about the financial crisis the whole nation is going through, but did not reject the demand.

There are no mining ban affacted people as the ban is imposed by the Supreme Court pending the final hearing of the matter. any assistance to any one affacted by the mining ban is illegal and unconstitutional. Act of parrikar to compensate anyone "affacted by mining ban" is illegal unconstitutional and a criminal contempt of supreme court for which the court may take notice at the time of next hearing and arrest parrikar. the concerned lawyers should bring these illegal acts of this govt to the notice of the court.
