GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 01 June 2013 23:09 IST

Monsoon has already set over Kerala from today and would advance towards Goa from Karnataka in next 48 hours.
It would thus formally reach Goa from 4 June.
However, the weather forecast of India Meteorological Department predicts rains from Monday onwards.
While Goa may witness only thunderstorm on Sunday, it would begin with light rain on Monday and then moderate rain from Tuesday onwards.
According to the IMD, the monsoon has covered all of Kerala, some parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka, most parts of Tamil Nadu and some more parts of southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea and Karnataka, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of south Andhra Pradesh and some more parts of Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours,” states IMD official.
The southwest monsoon normally sets in over Kerala around June 1, and advances northwards, usually in surges, covering the entire country by mid-July.
