Cong has not taken stand on Mopa: Churchill

Former minister and Congressman Churchill Alemao has claimed that the Congress party has not yet taken a stand whether Goa should have two air ports or only one.
At a press conference held today morning, Alemao blasted his party colleague Ramakant Khalap for supporting Mopa, terming it as a pro-Maharashtra stand.
“I have written to the high command to clear the stand of the Congress on the air port controversy”, Alemao informed.
According to him, since the Congress has not declared its official stand it means that the party is opposed to having two air ports at Dabolim and Mopa.
Alemao also said he does not want an air port in Goa, which would also benefit Maharashtra.
Reacting to chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s proposal to request the centre to shift the naval base of Dabolim to Mopa, he felt the navy should go to Sea Bird naval base in Karwar if the centre agrees to shift it.
His prime concern however is closing down Dabolim for civilian traffic in a long term.
“If Dabolim closes, the economy of whole Goa would collapse”, he claimed, but did not explain how.
Instead of having another air port at Mopa, Alemao proposed that the government should acquire the land allotted to Zuari Agro Chemicals at Zuarinagar and expand the Dabolim air port.
He also appealed to all the MPs and MLAs to support this move.

If chorchill had little love for Goa,today we would have our own regional party govt. instead to two communal and corrupt national parties.I was once a strong supporter of chorchill,so much so that during Parliament election(when Eduardo Faleiro was defeated) i voted for chorchill. Now Chorchill along with his entire family is already rejected for fooling and looting Goans and it would be suicidal for him to fool Goans once again.
