After Mopa, GOD also opposes Expressways

Goans for Dabolim led by Fr Eremito Rebello
After Mopa air port, a Christian priest-led ‘Goans for Dabolim’ has now also objected to Goa’s four-lane and six-lane national highways.
Fr. Eremito Rebello, convenor of GOD, today alleged that the expressway would create a great divided between North and South Goa.
“It will also lead to socio-economic and environmental degradation”, said Fr Rebello at a press conference held today in Margao.
Goa government has decided to go ahead with the pending proposal of Expressway, from Pernem to Canacona and Mollem to Panaji via Ponda by widening NH 17 and NH 4A as four and six-lane highways.
All the villages across the length of Goa will drastically changed with the Expressway that stands as a pre-condition for Mopa air port, felt Fr Rebello.
He has also predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party government would fall on its own as Mopa air port would invite death of this government.
According to him, chief minister Manohar Parrikar has decided to preside over destruction of our unique Goan identity by planning Mopa air port and the Expressway.
“Mr Parrikar was elected to power by the people of Goa with a great hope, but he appears to be determined to defeat and demoralise his own troops even before the battle begins”, said Fr Rebello.

Dear well wisher and Uday, development is required but not with this corrupt mentality government.
Dear well wisher and Uday, Goa needs electricity and water problem to be solved instead of having express highways. We don't have steady electricity and healthy water and proper existing roads. It's true other countries do developments but those countries have main human requirements up to the international standards. Do your country or my country have this standards. Shame on Indians.
Dear Uday for your information GOD is not that God which you are talking about, it is clearly mentioned that GOD means " Goa only for Dabolim ." Since he is a priest that does not mean he does not have the right to fight for the right for the people he has every right to fight for the welfare of the Goan people.
Dear Well wish and Uday sit and think over this matter.
Viva Goa

With due respect to Fr. Eremito Rebello, convenor of GOD, I would like to say (as a goan) that development in the country should be always welcomed and not critsized. First it was Alemao and now Rebello. I hope these people dont have any other job, but to stop the development of the country.
And now after seeing the present coments that the expressway would create a great division between North and South Goa, these are totally disastrous comments. I feel Rebello does not drive in Goa. If there is four and six-lane highways in Goa, it will be God's blessing to Goa. Mr. Rebello please step out of Goa and see the developments other countries are doing and this will open your eyes.
I hope Parrikar will go ahead with Goa's development and nobody should stop him in this direction. All the best Sir.

Golden rule says: One who claims to be convener of GODs must keep themselves away from politics. They should never resort to making cocktail mixing politics and religion! And if they are hell-bent on taking a dive in politics, such conveners of GODs, as per set criterion should first give away their convener-ship of GODs!
In connection with present burning issue, I’ve few questions to self proclaimed convener of GOD: 1) does GOD listen to prayers from general public only through a mediator like convener of GODs? 2) does GOD have any right to create turbulence in peace loving human society? 3) what authority GOD has to come in the way of development? (More related questions at later dates, if required.)
Concluding this brief expression, I do want to keep convener of GOD informed that whether it is narrow or broad or express or precise ways…..ROADs always serves as a LINK and not as a DIVIDER! Actual Dividers are always convener of GODs of modern times!
