Tech experts should decide air port issue: Eduardo

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 15 May 2013 22:26 IST

Issues like air ports should be decided by technical experts and not by others, feels former union minister Eduardo Faleiro.

He was responding to the question asked at the press conference on his opinion about the issue of Mopa air port.

“I am not a technical expert in civil aviation to comment on this and I feel nobody not having this expertise should speak on this”, said Faleiro.

He said projects like air ports are planned keeping in mind the traffic and expansion of the whole economy of at least 25 years.

Any transport infrastructure - be it by air, road, rail or water – should be planned properly so that it benefits the community at large.

“Otherwise it reflects on our future”, he said, while declining to make any direct comment on the issue of Mopa air port.

When media persons asked him about his experience since he has toured world over – whether the air port should be centrally located or on the border of any state – he politely declined to comment.

Yes Mr. Eduardo Faleiro we know what you mean. The technical experts which can be bought by you and the vested interest. Like the one we had in the Konkan Railway.

Eduardo Faleiro politely declined to comment on the question whether the airport should be centrally located or on the border of any state. That means it is a polite NO.

Politicians of Goa and Maharashtra must have bought land in and round Mopa. Hence, they want it there.

Who originally decided to have the airport at Mopa? Politicians or technical experts?

Any answers?
