Govt will freeze Dev around Mopa: BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party has said their government would freeze the land around Mopa air port, restraining any kind of development.

However, the ruling party feels the ongoing agitation in Salcete against Mopa is purely political in order to provoke the South Goa voters.

BJP spokesperson Damu Naik, when asked, said the government would definitely honour its assurance given in the Assembly to freeze the land in the periphery of seven kilometers around the proposed Mopa air port.

However, he could not state whether the notification regarding freezing the land development would come before the Lok Sabha election is announced.

Though he called the anti-Mopa agitation political, media persons pointed out to him that the real concern of the people is the real estate scam around the Mopa air port area.\

In fact Naik played ignorance about politicians belonging to both the ruling and opposition parties purchasing huge tracts of land around Mopa air port.

‘Goans Only for Dabolim’, the new organization of NGOs and Church priests headed by Fr Eremito Rebello, has termed Mopa air port as a real estate scandal.

However, former Fatorda MLA appeared to be more interested in dubbing the whole agitation as political, led by frustrated politicians belonging to the Congress and ‘others’.

When asked whether the Church priests also have a political motive behind the agitation, Naik took a guarded position.

“I am not aware of the Church officially participating in this agitation”, he said.

According to Naik, the agitation had no meaning since it was made amply clear that Dabolim would not be closed down even if Mopa comes up and it would be mentioned even while inviting tenders.

“The decision to retain Dabolim is taken by the union cabinet”, he reiterated.

While there is a demand that Dabolim itself be extended by shifting its naval base to Karwar Sea Bird Naval base, Naik said even defense minister A K Antony recently clarified that the Dabolim base would not be shifted.

“How will we accommodate over six million tourists projected by 2017 at a congested Dabolim air port”, he asked.

Having lost at the last elections, Damu Naik is still trying to make Political Capital for the next elections, by spewing out nonsense.

Mopa will not affect him much ,if he is elected,as he will be driven there on his way to New Delhi & elsewhere in a car with a Red Beacon. Traffic will be no hindrance. Every other road uses will have to get out of his way.

By the time he reaches Mopa from Fatorda, it will be time for him to go to bed. It is in no way a 30 minutes journey.

And no doubt, while on his way to Mopa from Fatorda,and with the stress of this long journey, he will want to get out of his car and relieve himself or urinate the nearest available tree....like his buddy MLA Rajan Naik.

The cost of travelling to Mopa will be no problem for Damu either. As an MLA he is likely to be in possession of a lot of disproportionate assets and some good old black money. It is guaranteed to come with the Post of an MLA.

For most other Goans, specially in the south the cost will be approximately Rs 2500-Rs 3000 in current day charges.

While Damu considers freezing the land around Mopa, he should bear in mind , that should the Congress or anyone else come to power they will be able to unfreeze it.

Damu Naik is a plain & simple rural boy. He has no experience of travelling and all that it entails.

All Damu Naik is doing, is being a faithful tio his slave-Master, Mr Parrikar.

Mere statements will not suffice. In the present situation, it is pertinent to check from the land records and find out how much land has been acquired by the politicians around the proposed Mopa airport.

The present government may freeze development but what happens if the present government is defeated and another government comes to power and that government opens the areas for development.

Can someone study the land records and find out how much land has been acquired by the politicians in and around the proposed airport at Mopa?

The agitation against Mopa cannot be said to be politically motivated as some MLAs from the ruling party are also taking/likely to join this agitation.

It is basically out of fear that those who earn their livelihood in different ways in connection with Dabolim airport, may suffer a lot.

Damu Naik must have got a well stuffed cake from the Real estate’s agents, he is out of his mind looking at the stuffed cake. Why isn't our so called BJP Govt think of solving the Electricity problem in Goa which is the main source in our life? People in Goa suffer so much due to Electricity problem. Equipment's are getting damaged due power fluctuation. We don’t have proper road infrastructure and garage issue. Solve this issues don't jump like mad monkeys because people elected.

Has Damu Naik ever considered moving the Navy to Mopa ?or even Karwar, instead of retaining them in Dabolim.

Mopa will have as much of a strategic value as Dabolim.

Looking at the facilities at Dabolim of the Navy, they look like a 3rd world Army.

There are no proper Hangars for rusting fighter planes and the navy Buildings look like slum developments.
