The Konkan Railway police have found out that the burning motorcycle thrown on the tracks yesterday early morning was stolen.
It belongs to Walter Lobo, working at Melville’s dance floor at Gudi-Paroda.
He had lodged a missing complaint of the motorcycle.
The TVS motorcycle was lit fire to and thrown on the track little away from Sarzora tunnel after midnight.
Major tragedy of derailment was averted as the driver of a Ro Ro goods train stopped the train as he saw something burning on the track.
The police have already filed a sabotage complaint in this regard against an unknown person.
As the motorcycle was completely burnt down, the only hope for the KRC police was to trace the chassis number of the bike.
The police also found a kerosene bottle near the track, making it confirmed that it was a deliberate attempt of sabotage.
The KRC police have also confirmed from the patrolling team of the railways that on many occasions they have found boulders thrown on the track, perhaps with a similar intention.
Fortunately, the Netravati Express had passed little before the sabotage while the Kerala Sampark Kranti Express was to arrive at around 1.10 am.
The burning bike however was seen at 0.30 hours by a goods train.
