Naphtha tanker overturns, Balli locals displaced

Locals of Balli were displaced and traffic was diverted on National Highway 17 today morning as a tanker carrying Naphtha overturned, causing minor leakage.
The tanker, carrying Naphtha of Reliance Energy power plant, overturned today morning at Balli, little ahead of the market, near the panchayat office.
As the lead of the tanker opened and the gas started leaking out, the authorities including the police immediately rushed to the spot.
People from 30 houses around the accident spot were immediately shifted out from the area.
Similarly, the traffic on National Highway 17 was diverted via Fatorpa, Canguinim, Khola to Canacona.
DySP Mohan Naik told goanews.com that the leakage is not much, though they did not take any risk.
According to him, the disaster management team of Reliance Energy immediately rushed to the spot and stopped the leakage.
However, the traffic would remain diverted till the tanker is removed by using the crane and taken away.
