Prove my hand in IDC plot to my son & I will resign: CM

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has offered to step down and sit at home if the opposition proves his involvement in IDC land allotment to his son to set up an industry.

“Tell me how the chief minister can stop any land allotment even to his son, if he fulfills all the criteria”, Parrikar said in the House today.

The opposition had recently alleged that Abhijat Parrikar got a plot in Tuem Industrial Estate because he was chief minister’s son.

Breaking his silence over the issue for the first time while replying to the general debate on the budget today, Parrikar said: “My son will fight his own battle even in the court of law.”

According to Parrikar, the IDC had not allotted plot to his son but only offer of allotment.

“Rest of the procedure is yet to take place while there is hue and cry over the allotment”, he said.

He also asked what the government should do if the court slams the government for rejecting the plot to a deserving applicant.

He said, unlike in the past, the plot allotment this time has been totally transparent.

you first resign so there will be a hope of independent inquiry. if your hand is not proved after that than you become the CM again.

This needs a thorough audit, and the onus is not on the opposition to prove malpractice here. Since the person alloted the plot is a related party, a thorough independent audit is necessary to prove that no undue influence was used to allocate the plot. That is all there is to it.
