The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital while some of them are battling for life with severe head injuries.
According to information available, a luxury bus belonging to Mahakali Travels from Bandra capsized into Jagbudi river at around 3 am as driver lost the control.
The bus was carrying 55 passengers.
The police are investigating whether the driver was drunk. He has also received severe injuries.
The police are still trying to identify the passengers from their belongings and the calls they are receiving on their mobile phones.
Most of the passengers are either from Goa, Sindhudurg, Mumbai and one Russian, who is injured, Additional SP Nandkumar Thakur told IBN Lokmat from the spot.
It is a narrow bridge, without proper railings.
Reports indicate that the bus was travelling at a very high speed when accident took place.
The river is shallow, thus the damage was heavy as the bus capsized upside down.
