Cong plans to take up Tuem land scam before Lokayukta

The Congress is planning to file a first case before Lokayukta regarding buying land for Tuem industrial estate at a throw away price and selling it at a much higher price to the industrialists.
The Tuem Gramsabha has thus decided not to give any piece of land in Tuem for industrial estate.
Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamankar has also alleged that one land owner died with a shock due to such forcible land acquisition.
Tamankar today showed all the documents procured under Right to Information regarding land acquisition proceedings, based on which he was making these allegations.
According to him, the government was acquiring the land merely for Rs 25 per square meter and selling it at Rs 1000 per square meter.
"But the same government is planning to acquire Mopa land at market price and Dabolim land for parking at a much higher price. Why are the local villagers made to suffer", he asked.
Tamankar also pointed out that the BJP at national level is asking to auction the plots while blaming the Congress in a Coalgate case, but was forcing the locals to sell their land for peanuts without any auction.
"Chief minister Manohar Parrikar's double standard is exposed here", he said.
Tamankar also claimed that one villager Andrew Fernandes died of shock when he was told that his precious land would be acquired by the government by paying him hardly Rs 25 per square meter.
"Parrikar is a human rights violator and this case proves it beyond doubt", claimed Tamankar, the Congress spokesperson.
While opposing the land acquisition, Tamankar said the villagers have now also approached the fast track court for justice.
However, the state government has already started collecting deposits in lakhs of rupees from the industrialists, who have been allotted plots.
Like Yedurappa, even Parrikar will have to step down once we approach the Lokayukta and the charges are proved, feels Tamankar.
