Mining data completely messed up: CM

After being ticked off by the Supreme Court-appointed Centrally Empowered Committee over "erroneous and incomplete data" on mining, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has sought to deflect the blame on erstwhile Congress regime for the "mess-up".
"The former government had miserably failed to maintain the records, including the number of operational mining leases, exports and productions. This mess is inherited by my government which is now working overtime to put in place all the records," Parrikar told PTI.
In a strong-worded letter to the state chief secretary, the Centrally Empowered Committee, which is inquiring illegal mining in Goa, had complained about "erroneous and incomplete data".
Justice M B Shah Commission also investigating into the illegalities had expressed similar complaint in the past.
Clearing the air on the issue, Parrikar said, "A total of 130 mining leases were operational in the state for last five years. There is no proper record of all these mines. The mines department was also unaware about 400-odd traders who were involved in the business".
He said the state Mines and Geology department, which saw some tainted officers being sacked, went through a tough time as it had to reconstruct all the details.
"Now since the matter is in the SC, we have time to clear this mess and get things in place before mining resumes," the Chief Minister said.
On resumption of mining activity which has been halted for over last two months post the Supreme Court order, Parrikar said the state government was awaiting directions from the apex court.
Goa is the country's largest exporter of iron ore with 43 million metric tonnes of ore shipped abroad during last financial year.

Dear CM, when you dont have clear and proper data of the past years for mining, please go ahead and cancel all the leases. Why do you wait and for whom? Pass the bill in the assembly, to cancel all the mining leases issued to all the present mine owners during Portuguese rule. If you need to explore and mine the wealth, then, form a mining corporation. Let all Goans enjoy the wealth of the motherland Goa. Why only these few families, who have looted Goa for decades till now? Are not the resources of Goa belonging to each and every Goan? Why these few families? Please stop protecting them? Ban mining in Goa, till rs.35,000 crores are recovered from these mining lobby. You can create your own databank on mining in Goa. Till that time,let there be complete ban and cancel all the mining leases. Blacklist all the present mine owners and pass the bill. You have majority now in the Government.

The records are either not maintained properly or messed up because all those in power, even some bureaucrats must have been involved in illegal mining.
How and why will they maintain the records properly when illegal mining was allowed! When the leader himself was involved in illegal mining, he cannot stop others.
Ministers and MLAs, instead of serving the public were in this illegal mining business.
Follow the leader was the motto of all!

Shame on you Parrikar, you have not been able to book even a single big mining fish. Except for those small fishes in mining department none is apprehended. People had great expectations from you but you've failed them all. Looks like you've made some deals with the mafias from previous govt.

1st parrikar took credit of supreme court order, "my stand has been vindicated" he said. Court passed stay order on basis of goa govt stay order he said. now he is taking U, Y and Z turns, insulting and abusing the Supreme Court, judges and members of CEC. We know that your predecessors were chors. Thats why we voted you. There is nothing new to it. But you have proved to be worse then them. Just like them you too took money from miners during election and now you have fallen in this pit and dragging whole of goa along with it. As far as those who want proof of parrikars chori please read shah commissions report. IT says period of offence year 2000-2012. Total scam 38,000 crores. chief ministers during the period, parrikar from 2000 to 2005 (5 years), rane 2005 to 2007 (2 years), Digambar 2007-2012 (5 years), mines minister 2000 parrikar for rest of the period Digamber.
