Mine owners should pay compensation: Sardinha

Goa Congress today said mine owners should be made to pay to ease the sufferings of people affected due to mining halt in the state.

Whatever money has been "looted" by the mine owners should be recovered from them and given back to the people affected with the current halt of the mining industry, Goa Congress unit working president Francisco Sardinha told reporters.

Justice MB Shah commission in its report on the illegal iron ore mining in the state had pointed out that mine owners had illegally extracted ore worth Rs35,000 crore.

Sardinha said after recovery the money should be judiciously put into welfare of the people dependent on mining industry and those areas affected by the industry.

"The money should not go into someone's pocket," the Congress leader said.

He also said Congress is ready for an all-party meeting to discuss the crucial issue.

"If Chief Minister (Manohar Parrikar) takes the initiative then the Congress is ready to join hands with him (to work out a solution)," Sardinha said.

Sardinha, who is also a Member of Parliament, stated that he will take up the issue of lifting the abeyance imposed on the environmental clearances (EC) given to the mining leases.

The MoEF kept in abeyance ECs of all the mining companies, after Shah commission pointed out that the ECs were granted as a favour.

Francisco Sardinha is right.

It is a good sign of cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition to sit together and find a solution.

Monohar Parrikar should take the initiative.

Mr. Sardin, these loot was carried out during your congress regime. You are an MP from South Goa representing congress and it is you who should dash to Delhi, to your Madam,s darbar seeking financial assistance to mining affected workers. During congress regime, everything was run from Delhi. Every now and then all the Ministers were air dashing to Delhi at tax payers expense. Now, You are the one who should impress upon your Madame that all the illegalities and corruption, destruction of Goa is during Congress regime.

Mr Parrikar has done the right thing to close the mining based on Shah Commission,s report. In fact he should file an FIR against all mine owners and recover Rs. 35,000/-. Why do you seek his support to recover that loot? Should he clean your party,s shit? The present scenario in illigal mining and its fall out is all due to congress sins. If at all mining workers are suffering, it is due to your party,s corrupt practices. Now help them if you can. Don't give press briefings from the comfort of your office or house. Mining workers, truck owners, barge owners will be on the street. Take a flight to Delhi. Seek help and advice of your Madame! Get financial aid from Delhi.

Will Mr Sardinha also ask the Miners ,to pay for & compensate for, all the environmental & health damage caused.

I would say hardly unlikely.

Most of all the damage, that has been done to Goa and Goans ,have been done by his corrupt & crooked "Brothers -in-Arms" of the Congress Party.

Francisco Sardinha,since the fall of the Congress Party in Goa, does not seem to make much sense with his statements.

He seems to be behaving like than a "Weather cock".

He should consider retiring as his personal Policies for Goa & Goans, are not in keeping with the Modern times.
