3 lakh hit by mining ban, claims MGP
PTI, PANAJI | 06 October 2012 22:59 IST

A day after Supreme Court ordered a ban on extraction and transportation of ore in Goa, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, an alliance partner of the Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government, has demanded immediate resumption of mining activity in the state.
MGP President Dipak Dhavlikar told reporters that the closure of mining activity has impacted almost three lakh people who are dependent on it.
The party said that the Supreme Court order was “unwarranted” as the state government has already begun steps to curb illegal mining in the state.
Dhavlikar blamed NGOs for unnecessarily taking up the issue in Supreme Court.
“NGOs should have discussed the issue with the state government and worked out the solution for their grievances. There was no need to approach the Supreme Court,” he said.
He alleged that the move was an attempt to delay start of mining activity in the state.
Yesterday, mining operations in all the 90 mines in Goa were ordered to be halted by the Supreme Court on the basis of the Justice M B Shah Commission report which estimated a whopping Rs 35,000 crore loss to the exchequer due to illegal mining in the last 12 years.
An apex court-appointed centrally empowered committee will investigate into illegal mining and submit its preliminary report within four weeks.

There are 2 things the man and the issue.
1st the issue: There is a substance in the issue that atleast 2 lakh people have become unemployed. If dhavlikar gave transport permits to 10,000 trucks alone that means 1 driver and 1 cleaner per truck about 20,000 people. @ 20 persons per barge multiplied by 2000 barges = 40,000 more, plus support staff. All of them are on bank loans. And they are not criminals real criminals who have made money are happy enjoying. This is a human problem. Here the Goa Govt. has clearly failed. Keep the earlier criminal aside. The Goa Govt was totally unprepared for the Supreme Court. There was no scheme, program, submission before the court for protection of these people. On the top of it Parrikar lied and keeps on lying to the people. He should stop that and do something to help these poor people. if necessary he should differ his pet schemes for 6 months and divert the funds here. Otherwise already 1 person has committed suicide, you cannot expect 2 lakh people to commit suicides, they would probably start killing BJP workers if the ban continues for more than 6 months.
Now the person. What Mr. Fernandes said about Dhavlikars is the truth. In case of A R Antulay courts found there was a nexus between donations given by cement traders to Antulays trust and permits granted by Antulay. Goa Govt should immediately start an enquiry of MAdhavrao Dhavlikar trust and any other trusts started by Dhavlikar brothers as to is there any nexus between donations to the trust and duties of Dhavlikar as a minister. Like the story of life of a Rakshasa in the Parrot, the corruption of Dhavlikars is in the Trust. If parrikar tries to protect him someone should file a PIL. Both of them deserve to be behind bars.

It would not surprise me ,that Mr Dhavilikar also has invested & holds several thousand Lacs, in Gold & Gold Ornaments & other precious metals...not forgetting rare stones like diamonds.
Only a fool will believe otherwise.
He seems to be opening his mouth forgetting that he is viewed by the general public .

So many people are affected from the stopping of mining in Goa. Government is at loss.
Government should come up with stringent laws and let the companies abide by instead of stopping the whole thing.

MGP Is the party founded by MINE owner, hence It is their constitutional right to protect mining. Obviously it will favor illigal mining. Let the Goa and it's future generations go to hell. They want to start the mining at the cost of destruction of,Goa,and fill their own coffers. Mr. Dhavlicar neds to open up another 100 accounts in the Bank of Maharastra. Open up,another 10000 insurance policies. Open up and stuff cash and bullion in Swiss banks. Their future generations must be safe, let others perish. This is the aim of these corrupt politicians in collussion with mine owners. It was the MGP whose unsuccessful candidate Mr. Dinar Tarcar was fielded from the St. Cruz constituency. They will back these mine owners as the party gets the funds and hence will, demand for commencement of mining.
Mr. Dhavlikar must go through the SHAH Commission report. He should know that it is proven beyond doubt that All the mining in Goa is illegal and it needs to be stopped. The loot must be recovered and the suffering Goans could be compensated but not by starting the mining.

Dhavlikar and Arun Dessai are involved in big racket of providing transport licences to additional 10000 mining trucks during his term as Transport minister in Congres Govt thus pocketing almost INR 10 crores. Mr. Parrikar, if you believe in zero tolerance corruption, arrest both Dhavlikar and Arun Dessai

Dipak Dhavlikar...could start assisting those affected by Mining by, firstly contributing from his Rs. 9 crore of "declared election assets".
I wonder what his "undeclared" and off shore Accounts hold?
His brother Sudin holds about 30 odd Bank Accounts in the Bank Of Maharastra.Very bizzare
I wonder what is the purpose of him, having over 2 dozen Life Insurance Policies?

Mr Dhavilikar should realise ,that no one consult criminals ,before filing cases against them.
It must be noted that employees of the Goa Government, both Politicians & Bureaucrats ,have conducted illegal activities where mining is concerned.
The Dhavilikars too, have both been alleged to have conducted corrupt & illegal activities in their respective Departments...specially the RTO...and soon the PWD too.
It is not the duty of any Citizen to consult the Dhavilikars over a cup of Tea & Wadass, before filing any FIR or case against them.
I have never heard of Goa Police ever consulting or having discussions with any criminal, before filing a FIR/ Case against them.
The Dhavilikars should focus their attention on finding solutions to providing relief to those affected by illegal Mining, through no fault of their own.
However I am more inclined to think, that the Dhavilikar brothers are more affected by the halt in mining as their illegal & under the counter earnings have been halted and have dried up a little.
While Sudin Dhavilikar is in now charge of the PWD portfolio, he is still able to pull strings and use his corrupt influences in the RTO...in pursuance of his finiancial aims ...and dreams.

Government must stick their decision on illegal mining
most of the congress heroes in this episode. Even
no compensation those goons behind this business
cheating, looting Goa first must arrest Digamber,
Rane, Joaquim Alemaso etc and who back those
goons. Mr. Micky Pacheco only capable and fit for talk
and goondagire of Nuvem/Verna. Mr. Micky should
have shame on his role. People must remember
next election defeat congress, Ncp and vikas party.

NGO has every right to approach Supreme Court. It would have been better instead of blaming NGO and being in ruling Govt, if he could pressurize the CM to arrest all the mine owners involved in illegal mining and recover from them Rs.35, 000 crores. These money could be used to rehabilitate those 3 lakhs people. He should also note that all those 3 lakh people are not sincere and are some are hand in gloves in illegal mining, owning more than 3 trucks and made hay while illegal mining was at peak. What he want NGO to discuss with him when illegal mining was carried out right under his nose as he was part of ruling Congress govt then ? What effort did he make to meet NGO while in ruling and when illegal mining was at peak ? NGO is doing their duty which he failed to do so as MLA by withdrawing support to Congress led govt. because that time NGO was insignificant to him and his eyes were blind as he & his brother were getting easily their share of mining loot.
