SC decision to stop ore transport was also our stand: CM

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that the Supreme Court order suspending the extraction and transportation of iron ore in the state reiterates the stand taken by the Goa government.
"The SC verdict reiterates the stand taken by the Goa government. It actually reiterates what I have already done," Parrikar told PTI.
He said the action taken by Goa government (of suspending the mining licences) may not have been brought to the notice of the court.
"I am not aware whether the SC is aware that Goa government has suspended the licences until the existing stock at the jetties or mining leases are verified to be legally extracted," the chief minister said.
"This (SC) is just reiterating the government stand," Parrikar added.
The chief minister further said that the SC decision was taken without hearing the state's view point.
"State has not filed any affidavit or has not been asked to file any affidavit," he said.
Stating that Goa government has already worked out method to off-set the impact on people depending on the mining, Parrikar said the government will ensure that there is no bankruptcy due to closure of the mining business.
