Is Justice Khandeparkar closely ‘related’ to controversial mine owners?

Retired high court judge Justice R M S Khandeparkar, heading the government-appointed panel to probe Justice Shah Commission report, is caught into a dock.

He is allegedly found to be closely related to Dinar Tarcar, one of the ‘mine owner’ indicted into the Shah Commission report.

Ramesh Gawas, fighting a lone battle against illegal mining and its impact on Goan society as a whole, has pointed out that Justice Khandeparkar has also been legal advisor of Goa’s top mining firms in the past.

According to Gawas, Justice Khandeparkar is related to Tarcar through his father-in-law and former minister in Bandodkar government – Atchutrao Usgaonkar.

“Before becoming the judge, Justice Khandeparkar has also fought cases on behalf of Goa’s top mining firms as their legal advisors”, alleged Gawas.

When the past and also the present of a man is under cloud, appointment of such a person to probe Shah Commission findings are bound to raise eyebrows, said Gawas.

In fact he asked how a retired high court judge could probe into the report of a retired Supreme Court judge, as Justice Khandeparkar is a retired high court judge while Justice Shah is a retired Supreme Court judge.

Gawas feels appointment of the panel itself is yet another part of a drama that is being played by chief minister Manohar Parrikar to shield Goa’s mining lobby.

“Forge the scam of Rs 35,000 crore pointed out in Shah Commission report, why is Parrikar silent on recovering Rs 3200 crore pointed out in his own PAC report”, asks Gawas.

According to Gawas, appointment of such a panel is a delay tactic to act against the accused mine owners in the Shah Commission report as well as getting the Commission report defused through close associates of mining industry on the panel.

I think, if Mr Parrikar thinks he will be able to sweep the Mining fiasco under the carpet, he better think again.

If he thinks he will be able to fool Goans on this issue,in his usual CRAFTY style, he will come to regret it at the next elections(even if he carries out his promised retirement).

The Hangmans noose will still follow him.

It will be seen as a case of "PERPERTRATED BY CONGRESS AND ADIED & ABETTED BY THE BJP".

all these maths and mathadheesh over the years have benefited immensely through donations of mine owners. And almost all big sharks hail from the same community. Now a lot of them are coming up with theories like how every saraswat ( right from a bhaatkar to a 'raandpi') is related to the other. So one can understand how complicated and dangerous the trap is.

On the other hand, it has always been Shabai shabai bhoujansamaj.

Bhoujans had not 'seen' and 'experienced' power till 1961 and this lack of exposure made them hail false heroes like Ravi, Subhash, Dayanand who only had a vision of amassing wealth and turning their own community members into pimps.

This became a win win situation for 'jaanvenkaars' either ubhe or aadve ( wow, in English they could be called verticals and horizontals).

Hopefully the current and the next generation empowered by the revolution in the IT read through these games, assess their own 'swaabhimaan' and shun communal and casteist agendas.

Among the catholics also it has been a similar situation. Machiavellian Dr. Willy always chopped wings of emerging leaders from Chaddes and Sudirs to thrust upon brainless goons like Churchills and Mickeys ( ditto Ravi / Subhash/ Dayanand - Hindu counterparts).

Sparks like Ramesh Gawas can reach out to both communities effectively and thus, like a ray of hope for Goa.
