Collector Agarwal denies harassment to Bhave

South Goa Collector D N Agarwal has emphatically denied that he has harassed the suspended mining department officials that led to one official Dattatray Bhave committing suicide.
In fact he claims that he had allowed all the officials to report to his office in the morning and then go home.
“Sitting at the office was their own choice”, he claimed.
Bhave’s family members have alleged that the mines department official committed suicide due to harassment and humiliation caused to him by the Collector’s office.
“Since they are officers, I wanted to make them sit respectfully and not in the public gallery”, said Agarwal.
All the six officials were made to sit in the control room of the South Goa collectorate which can be seen by each and every passerby.
South Goa MP described it as a saddist attitude of the officials.
GPCC president Subhash Shirodkar also said it was due to the wrong treatment Bhave had resorted to such drastic step of ending his life.
While the Collector is being blamed for Bhave’s suicide, the magisterial inquiry is being conducted by his subordinate official – Ponda deputy collector Johnson Fernandes.
Sudin Tamhankar, the Congress spokesperson, has thus demanded judicial inquiry into Bhave’s suicide case.

It is certainly not the treatment at the Collectors office that made Mr Bhave end his life.
It is more likely due to the fear of impending investigations and pressure placed upon Mr Bhave by the Mining Barons and their stooges/ goondas and the corrupt Congress MLA`s involved in this mining scam.
Any person indicted in an offence anywhere in the world is suspended pending investigations.This is to prevent destroying any proof.
asking Mr Bhave to attend the Collectors office would be a preventive measure, to stop him from tampering with the evidence or witnesses.
