BJP demands Digambar's resignation as MLA

Goa unit of BJP on Thursday demanded resignation of former chief minister Digambar Kamat as Congress MLA following his indictment by a judicial commission for illegal iron ore mining in the state.
"Justice M B Shah Commission has held Kamat directly responsible for the mess as a minister of mines. Congress should tender apology for the mining mess...We demand that Digambar Kamat must quit (as a legislator) owning the responsibility," the state BJP spokesman Dr Wilfred Mesquita told reporters.
Kamat represents Margaon assembly constituency in South Goa.
The state government should also crack whip on those mine owners who were involved in illegal mining activity as mentioned in the Shah Commission report, he said, adding the mining scam cost the state exchequer dear and the money be recovered from the guilty.
"Money belongs to the people of Goa and should be recovered from the mine owners," Mesquita said.
Shah Commission in its report, tabled in Parliament recently, pegged the scam to the tune of Rs 35,000 crore.

Well said Mr Mesquita.
Digambar has no moral right to be the MLA of Margao after such serious criminal accusations.
But being shameless, do you think he will resign?
You should take a precession in Margao, and let know all the Margaonkars, who voted him to power, the misdeeds in the mining and accumulation of wealth by illegal methods, during his tenure as Minister.

I think every Goan would like to see the Ex CM Dugamber Kamat tried and jailed....and the keys thrown away.
He has been the worst CM Goa has ever had.
He was unable to take decisions in Goa due to the fractured nature of his Congress Party. and had to constantly galavant to New Delhi to meet his corrupt superiors.
He was virtually playing with peoples/citizens lives.
12 years as a Mines Minister ,and dearly hugging the Mines Portfolio close to his chest clearly indicates that he had a lot to hide.
His only success in keeping the Mine Portfilio, is selfishly managing to get his daughters married into rich Mining Families.
He pretends to live in a humble flat & surroundings. But he forgets to tell us that he actually has a large portfilio of real estate and is actually a "Slumdog Millionaire".
Malbaht, where he lives, is no better than the best & poshest street in the worlds largest slum of Dharavi, in Mumbai.
Obviously Digamber Kamat is blind to all the litter on the street.
He has not learnt much of Civic sense, even after claiming to have travelled abroad widely.
Margao use to be a pretty little town.Today it resembles a big slum.A slum is pretty much what Mr Digamner Kamat visualises as devlopment.
The traffic situation in Margao is in a despicable state.
They Markets are badly run and Digamber Kamat has let loose his Party colleague,Babu Azgaonkar to, continue and promote illegalities. One should not expect much from a non educated street cobbler turned politician. It is the money that speaks , not the brain.
I think Digambers greatest legacy to Margao is constructing an A/c Toilet. But that too will not have a long life.
Even the Ravindra Bhavan is showing signs of early decay.
