Parriakar retaliates, calls Jayanthi irresponsible

PTI, PANAJI | 13 September 2012 22:25 IST

A day after the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest suspended the environmental clearances for all the 93 mining leases in Goa, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that he will appeal to prime minister to "set things right" in the green ministry headed by Jayanti Natarajan.

"Jayanti Natarajan is an irresponsible minister who does not know what is happening in her own department. I will be writing to the prime minister urging him to set things right in the environment ministry," Parrikar told a press conference here.

Parrikar's outburst against Natarajan came a day after the latter termed as a "white wash" the action initiated by the BJP-ruled state against mine owners. Goa government had earlier suspended licences of all mining leases in the state.

"Jayanti Natarajan should file a criminal complaint against MOEF officials for granting Environmental Clearances to the non-existing mining leases. Why is that MoEF not taking action against its own officers despite being indicted in the report," Parrikar questioned.

Justice M B Shah commission's report on illegal iron ore mining in Goa, which was tabled in the Parliament recently, had pointed out that MoEF had given ECs to various mines in a fraudulent manner.

The chief minister also accused the ministry officials of "not coordinating with the state government over the issue of closure of illegal mines" by citing eight notices issued earlier to different mines for suspending their operations over failure to obtain necessary certificates from the National Board of Wildlife.

"The copies of these notices were not marked to the state government which is actually the implementing authority. If mines continue despite MoEF notices, then the state government will not be shouldering the blame," Parrikar said.

Observing that his government is committed to implement the Shah Commission report, Parrikar said seven officers have already been suspended for violation of norms.

In short, She is trying her best to be 'Pramod Mahajan' of Congress.

What kind of leaders we have in both major parties of the country. A real tragedy.

Both CONGRESS and BJP are corrupt and shameless. And the the tragedy is the third front promised by Mulayam too is no better.

God ( not Godmen) save this country!

Jayanthi Natrajan is the grand daughter of the THEN most corrupt chief minister of the corrupt congress BHAKTHAVATSALAM ,whose corrupt regime was ended by the dravidian party. After that the corrupt congress could not rise its dirty corrupt head again in the Tamilnadu. Jayanthi became v friendly with Rajiv and entered the Rajiv congress in 1980.She was 26 yrs YOUNG,then ! after the slaughter of Rajiv in HER OWN state , she joined Moopnaar along with another corrupt chidambaram .after moopanaar`s death the turncoat joined Soniya, again. she was NEVER elected for the loksabha ,in her corrupt life !she was elected thrice to the rajya sabha . In the Madras high court the case is going on against Jayanthi for a fraud of rs 300 crores ONLY ,about a Vijaya bank loan . another corruption ghotala is that she has bought a plot in the outskirts of Chennai city of more than 60,000 sq mts. worth more than 500 crores ..and she receives a annual rent of Rs 30/ crores only ! nobody in goa, especially, the corrupt congress lobby reporters wd inform us readers about these realities !

Congress house was already on fire and Jayantibai came and added more kerosene to it. More firepower to you Sonia-lady.

CHORACHYA ULTYA BOMBA.

Where is Digu hiding now? the politically irrelevant Pratapsingh seems to be rattled, why is he still hanging around, ain't he going on some Tirthyatra, or Sanyas?

On the other hand, I was listening to Parrikar's interview on prudent, he is talking only about regulations and permit; he should also express his concern and do something to protect the fragile Goan environment. What about recovery of that 35,000 crores?
