File FIR against Digambar, demands BJP

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that First Information Report be filed against former Congress minister Digambar Kamat, who has been indicted in Shah Commission report on illegal mining in Goa.

The report was today tabled in the Parliament.

BJP state president Laxmikant Parsekar, who is also the health minister in the Manohar Parrikar government, has demanded that his government should file the FIR.

Kamat was the mines minister for 12 years, which also includes erstwhile BJP regime when Parrikar was the chief minister.

Shah Commission has held Kamat responsible for allowing illegal mining in the state.

Parsekar has demanded that the FIR be filed under sections of 420, 120, 467, 468 as well as 13 (1) and (2) of IPC.

The BJP has also suggested the investigation be then handed over to CBI.

Kamat however has refused to comment on the Shah Commission findings.

“Let me read the report and then comment”, he told all the mediapersons who tried to contact him.

I fully agree with Mr. Parsekar. The ex CM digu with his group of corrupt ministers, plus government officials and the illegal mine operators should be immediately put behind the bars. No one should be spared. These people loot the goan wealth in one hand and pretend to be philanthropist on the other hand. The assets earned by all concerned individuals by illegal mining must be attached/confiscated.. These mine owners illegally drain the wealth of Goans and fill their own pockets. Enough is enough. The mining reserves are the national wealth and it belongs to all the Goans. The mining in the hands of few goans who, have looted Goa and Goans must be stopped. All the mines must be nationalized. The wealth earned by mining must be utilized for the benefit of the sons of the soil.

These so called mine owners have no shame. They indulge in all kinds of illegal means of mining and accumulating wealth. They have accumulated wealth for their numerous future generations and they show off their ill gotten wealth by roaming in affluent cars, and attending parties in star hotels. Open up reputed Goa's news paper and you will find the photos of these mine owners and Offsprings of these shameless mine owners.

Since all the present mine owners have indulged into illigalities, their leases must be frozen with immediate effect and they should be black listed in future bidding for any mining leases. Let the new young goan entrepreneurs come forward. Why mining in the hands of few families? Why should other goans suffer and only few families enjoy the wealth of Goa? My dear Goans, please wake up. Openn your eyes. It is our wealth. It belongs to all goenkars and not few mine owners. Either we seek the nationalization of these mines or force the government to freeze the present leases of all the mines. If at all, mining needs to be continued, let there be open bids, whereby any Goan can bid for the lease and carry out the mining business in a legal format prescribed by the law of the land.

I request Mr Parsrkar to pursue the matter very seriously with the concerned state machinery and I hope Mr. Parrikar, takes strong action against the illegal mining group and recoveres the state wealth from these thugs who have looted Goa and Goans for the last few decades. Just handing over the case to CBI won't help. Goans need to see the outcome of these illegal mining.
