New technology for garbage treatment by Sept
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 26 July 2012 17:22 IST

Goa is planning to invite expressions of interest to identify proper technology to set up two garbage treatment plants by September.
Once the technology is indentified, the plants would be completed within a year, chief minister Manohar Parrikar today told the Assembly.
In a reply to Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, urban development Francis D’Souza told the House that Goa creates around 400 metric tonnes of garbage every day.
He also informed the House that two plants are necessary especially to dispose of the garbage created in villages as most of the municipalities have already started their own garbage treatment plants.
Adding to this, Parrikar said the government had already received letters for five to six different technologies.
Once identified, the government plans to take the MLAs as well as people of the area where the plant would be set up to the plant operational with the technology.
“We will even take the respective NGOs in this delegation”, he said.
The science and technology has been entrusted the task to identify the technology.
While this would take time, the chief minister has assured to panchayats to provide equipments to deal with garbage disposal.

If required, try to have more than two plants. It is never a drain on the economy to have something so valuable that will help to keep the environment clean.
We owe clean environment to our future generations.
